14PS RESOLUTION 2005-M_ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COMMISSION <br />THE RE -DESIGNATION OF THE ATLANTIC ISLES <br />ENTRANCE BRIDGE AND THE ATLANTIC ISLES LAKE <br />BRIDGE AS INDIVIDUAL HISTORIC SITES; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-3, Code of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br />the Historic Preservation Board has been empowered to recommend to the City Commission <br />properties for designation as historic sites and landmarks; and <br />WHEREAS, the Atlantic Isles Entrance Bridge and the Atlantic Isles Lake Bridge, <br />legally described in Exhibit A, were built in the mid -1920's and are the remaining tangible <br />examples of the beautifying features of the early development of Atlantic Isles; and <br />WHEREAS, the Atlantic Isles Entrance Bridge and the Atlantic Isles Lake Bridge are <br />architecturally significant for their design and use of native limestone, has significance in the <br />archeological herity-ge of this area and exemplifies the historical and cultural trends of the <br />community that existed at that time; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 19, 1984, the Atlantic Isles Entrance Bridge and the Atlantic <br />Isles Lake Bridge have been designated as historic sites by Miami -Dade County; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-4, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Historic <br />Preservation Board has conducted a public meeting to determine whether the Atlantic Isles <br />Entrance Bridge and the Atlantic Isles Lake Bridge meet the criteria outlined in the ordinance <br />and would like to recommend to the City Commission that these bridges be re -designated as <br />historic sites; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Recommendation of the Historic Preservation Board. The Historic Preservation <br />Board recommends that the City Commission re -designates the Atlantic Isles Entrance Bridge <br />and the Atlantic Isles Lake Bridge as individual historic sites. <br />Section 2.
