44fe RESOLUTION 2005-Q-& <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COMMISSION <br />THE RE -DESIGNATION OF THE WATER COURT VILLA <br />AND PERGOLA, LOCATED AT 334 ATLANTIC AVENUE, <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS AN INDIVIDUAL <br />HISTORIC SITE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-3, Code of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br />the Historic Preservation Board has been empowered to recommend to the City Commission <br />properties for designation as historic sites and landmarks; and <br />WHEREAS, the Water Court Villa and Pergola located on Atlantic Island, at 334 <br />Atlantic Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida , legally described in Plat Book 34, P 17, Lots 71, <br />72 and Tract marked Pergola Landings was built in 1927, and is a fine example of the homes <br />envisioned by Harvey B. Graves (1920's) and Kurtis R. Froedtert (1930's), developers of <br />Atlantic Island; and <br />WHEREAS, The Water Court and Pergola is architecturally significant for its <br />Mediterranean style, and <br />WHEREAS, the Miami- Dade County Historic Preservation Board designated this site <br />on January 19, 1984; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-4, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Historic <br />Preservation Board has conducted a public meeting to determine whether the Sunny Isles Beach <br />Pier meets the criteria outlined in the ordinance and would like to recommend to the City <br />Commission that the site be re -designated as an historic site; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Authorization of the Historic Preservation Board. The Historic Preservation Board <br />recommends that the City Commission re -designates the Water Court Villa and Pergola as an <br />individual historic site pursuant to Ordinance No. 2004-197. <br />Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption <br />PASSED and ADOPTED this (;4day of l�y��, 2005. <br />Dione E.
