48 RESOLUTION 2005-a_ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY <br />COMMISSION THE RE -DESIGNATION OF THE SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH PIER, LOCATED AT 16701 COLLINS <br />AVENUE, AS AN INDIVIDUAL HISTORIC SITE; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-3, Code of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br />the Historic Preservation Board has been empowered to recommend to the City Commission <br />properties for designation as historic sites and landmarks; and <br />WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Pier located at 16701 Collins Avenue is one of the <br />oldest remaining structures of its kind in Miami -Dade County and has been a focal point of the <br />Sunny Isles Beach community since its construction in 1936; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 21, 1982, the Miami -Dade County Historic Preservation Board <br />designated the Sunny Isles Beach Pier as an historic site; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 171-4, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Historic <br />Preservation Board has conducted a public meeting to determine whether the Sunny Isles Beach <br />Pier meets the criteria outlined in the ordinance and would like to recommend to the City <br />Commission that the pier be re -designated as an historic site; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Authorization of the Historic Preservation Board. The Historic Preservation Board <br />recommends that the City Commission re -designates the Sunny Isles Beach Pier as an individual <br />historic site pursuant to Ordinance No. 2004-197. <br />Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br />PASSED and ADOPTED this 04day of , 2005. <br />Dione E.
