RESOLUTION NO. 2025 -:2---, '7 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984, TO EXPEND LOCAL LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A DRONE AS A FIRST <br />RESPONDER PROGRAM, IN AN AMOUNT NOTTO EXCEEDTWO HUNDREDTHIRTY- <br />FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THREE DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($234,103.00), <br />ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A" PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach ("City") and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds <br />from the established Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund("LLETF") forfeiture account, for approved <br />programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br />Statutes §932.7055(5)(b), upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br />municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification <br />that the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to authorize the expenditure of LLETF funds to <br />purchase a drone as a first responder program, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Thirty - <br />Four Thousand One Hundred Three Dollars and No Cents ($234,103.00), which includes a <br />contingency in the amount of Thirty Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($30,000.00), attached hereto <br />as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1 . Expenditure of Forfeited Monies. Based upon the certification, attached hereto as <br />Exhibit "A", the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to expend Two Hundred Thirty -Four Thousand <br />One Hundred Three Dollars and No Cents ($234,103.00), which includes a contingency in the <br />amount of Thirty Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($30,000.00), from the established Local Law <br />Enforcement Trust Fund forfeitures account to purchase a drone as a first responder program. <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
