REASONS: In accordance with the 2024/25 Capital Outlet Budget, Public Works department budgeted for the purchase of a Utility Truck with Crane. Thier support for the budget line item was as follows: Service trucks with cranes are essential for lifting and moving heavy equipment during on-site repairs. The crane allows heavy equipment to be moved, such as storm grates, material loads, lift heavy parts to speed up service, place or remove materials around obstacles or where space is limited. On November 2024, the Public Works department presented an add-on item to purchase this equipment from Hawkeye Truck Equipment Co. Upon further review, and confirmation from Hawkeye, the quote did not include the Ford F-550. The combined grand -total for the crane and a 2024 Ford F-550 was $193,082.50. Alan Jay Fleet quoted the City a 2025 Ford F-550 Super Cab Chassis and the Hydraulic Crane for $181,602.00, roughly $11,000 less. The 2025 Ford F-550 has been received by the city and is currently listed in Public Work's inventory. The crane body and crane package will take 8-11 months for the city to receive. Although the crane has a longer lead-time with Alan Jay, due to the cost savings, and the terms and conditions purchasing off of the Sourcewell contract, Procurement has recommended to rescind the Item Number: 9.11 421
