THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 028200 Asbestos Abatement-6 <br />Subcontractor's written asbestos compliance work plan, emergency contacts and <br />notification plan, containment and work area design, facility requirements, submittals, <br />and any other issues pertinent to the safe execution of the asbestos abatement work. <br /> <br />1. Work shall not commence until all required submittals and plans have been <br />approved by the University. <br /> <br />1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br /> <br />A. Existing Conditions: <br /> <br />1. Building materials that contain asbestos are known to be present at the Project <br />site. Building materials that have not been previously tested, that may be <br />affected by the project scope, should be assumed to contain asbestos and <br />handled according to this section. [See Attachment B for asbestos testing <br />results]. Locations and quantities of asbestos containing material may be <br />obtained by contacting the LBNL EH&S IH office (510) 486-4028. <br /> <br />a. If any other materials are found which are suspected of containing <br />asbestos or other hazardous materials, immediately stop work in the <br />affected area and notify the University’s Project Manager. Handle <br />suspected asbestos containing material according to this section. <br /> <br />2. The University will occupy adjacent areas during the course of the Work. Work <br />under this Subcontract shall not affect the University's operation of adjacent <br />areas. <br /> <br />3. The abatement subcontractor is responsible for notifying other subcontractors in <br />writing regarding asbestos work per OSHA requirements (29 CFR 1926.1101). <br /> <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.1 MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Plastic Sheeting: Fire retardant polyethylene sheeting conforming to NFPA 701 and <br />ASTM S502-74T for surface flammability and smoke density. A single polyethylene film <br />in the largest sheet size possible to minimize seams, 6 mils thick, clear, frosted or black <br />as indicated. <br /> <br />B. Duct Tape: Provide duct tape in 2" or 3" widths as indicated, with an adhesive which is <br />formulated to stick aggressively to polyethylene sheeting. <br /> <br />C. Spray Adhesive: Shall not contain methylene chloride, as listed on the product's label <br />and/or Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Provide spray adhesive in aerosol cans that <br />is specifically formulated to stick aggressively to polyethylene sheeting. <br /> <br />D. Disposal Bags: 6-mil polyethylene. <br /> <br />E. Asbestos-Containing Materials Disposal Containers: Leak-tight drums procured by LBNL <br />Waste Management or LBNL approved dumpsters. <br />
