THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH
PROJECT NO. 21-1011
BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX

Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 031000 -11
F. The CONTRACTOR shall supply sufficient number of forms of each kind to permit the
required rate of progress to be maintained.
G. The design and inspection of concrete forms, falsework, and shoring shall comply with
applicable local, state, and Federal regulations.
3.2 WATERSTOPS:
A. Waterstop shall be embedded in the concrete across joints as indicated. Waterstop shall
be fully continuous for the extent of the joint. Splices necessary to provide such continuity
shall be accomplished in conformance to printed instructions of manufacturer of the
Waterstop. The CONTRACTOR shall take suitable precautions and means to support and
protect the Waterstop during the progress of the work and shall repair or replace at its
own expense any Waterstop damaged during the progress of the work. Waterstop shall
be stored so as to permit free circulation of air around the Waterstop material.
B. When any Waterstop is installed in the concrete on one side of a joint, while the other half
or portion of the Waterstop remains exposed to the atmosphere for more than 2 days,
suitable precautions shall be taken to shade and protect the exposed Waterstop from direct
rays of the sun during the entire exposure and until the exposed portion of the Waterstop
is embedded in concrete.
3.3 SPLICES IN PVC WATERSTOPS:
A. Splices in PVC Waterstop shall be performed by heat sealing the adjacent Waterstop
sections in accordance with the manufacturer's printed recommendations. It is essential
that:
1. The material not be damaged by heat sealing.
2. The splices have a tensile strength of not less than 80 percent of the unspliced
material tensile strength.
3. The continuity of the Waterstop ribs and of its tubular center axis be maintained.
No edge welding is allowed.
B. Butt joints of the ends of 2 identical Waterstop sections may be made while the material
is in the forms.
C. All joints with Waterstop involving more than 2 ends to be jointed together, and all joints
which involve an angle cut, alignment change, or the joining of 2 dissimilar Waterstop
sections shall be prefabricated (shop made fitting) prior to placement in the forms, allowing
not less than 24-inch-long strips of Waterstop material beyond the joint. Upon being
inspected and approved, such prefabricated (shop made fitting) Waterstop joint assemblies
shall be installed in the forms and the ends of the 24-inch strips shall be butt welded to
the straight run portions of Waterstop in place in the forms.
D. Where a center bulb Waterstop intersects and is jointed with a non-center bulb Waterstop,
care shall be taken to seal the end of the center bulb, using additional PVC material if
needed.
3.4 FORM DESIGN:
A. Forms shall be true in every respect to the required shape and size, shall conform to the
established alignment and grade, and shall be of sufficient strength and rigidity to maintain
