Forms for vertical walls of water holding structures shall remain in place at <br />least 36 hours after the concrete has been placed. <br />B. Forms for parts of the WORK not specifically mentioned herein shall remain in place for <br />periods of time as recommended in ACI 347. <br />3.8 FALSEWORK: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the design, engineering, construction, <br />maintenance, and safety of all falsework, including staging, walkways, forms, ladders, and <br />similar appurtenances, which shall equal or exceed the applicable requirements of the <br />provisions of the OSHA Safety and Health Standards for Construction, and the requirements <br />herein. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall design and construct falsework to provide the necessary rigidity <br />and to support the loads. Falsework for the support of a superstructure shall be designed <br />to support the loads that would be imposed if the entire superstructure were placed at one <br />time. <br />C. The CONTRACTOR shall place falsework upon a solid footing, safe against undermining, <br />and protected from softening. When the falsework is supported on timber piles, the <br />maximum calculated pile loading shall be as recommended by the CONTRACTOR’S <br />geotechnical engineer and shall not exceed 20 tons. When falsework is supported on any <br />portion of the structure which is already constructed, the load imposed by the falsework <br />shall be spread, distributed, and braced in such a way as to avoid any possibility of damage <br />to the structure. <br />3.9 TOLERANCES: <br />A. The variation from plumb, level and required lines shall not exceed 1/4-inch in any ten feet <br />(10’) of length, non-cumulative, and there shall be no offsets or visible waviness in the <br />finished surface. All other tolerances shall be within the tolerances of ACI 117 - Standard <br />Tolerances for Concrete Construction and Materials. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
