THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 033100 Structure Concrete-11 <br />replaced at no cost to OWNER. <br /> <br />G. Application of surface retarders and saw cutting of joints shall be planned in <br />advance. <br /> <br /> <br />H. Immediately after placement, protect concrete from premature drying, <br />excessively hot or cold temperatures and mechanical injury. <br /> <br />I. Placing During Hot Weather: <br /> <br />1. Place concrete during hot weather conditions in accordance with ACI <br />305R. <br /> <br />J. Placing During Cold Weather: <br /> <br />1. Place concrete during cold weather conditions in accordance with ACI <br />306.1. <br /> <br />K. Maintain concrete with minimal moisture loss at relatively constant temperature <br />for period necessary for hydration of cement and hardening of concrete. <br /> <br />3.5 FLOOR SLABS <br /> <br />A. Place floor slabs-on-ground with contraction and construction joints as <br />indicated on Drawings. <br /> <br />B. Saw cut contraction joints as soon as possible, without raveling, after <br />placement of concrete, but within 24 hours. <br />C. Cut slabs with 3/16-inch-thick blade, cutting one-fourth depth of slab <br />thickness. <br /> <br />D. Floor shall have a hard steel trowel finish. <br /> <br />E. Separate slabs on fill from vertical surfaces with a joint filler. <br /> <br />F. Extend joint filler from bottom of slab to within 1/8-inch of finished slab <br />surface. <br /> <br />G. Floor Finishes shall be in accordance with ACI 302.1R. Immediately after <br />finishing, begin curing. <br /> <br />3.6 FLOOR CURING AND TREATMENT <br /> <br />A. Curing shall begin promptly to prevent drying of concrete. Curing shall <br />continue for seven (7) days after placing. <br /> <br />B. Curing methods shall not be changed until after the third day, and then only with <br />written approval of the Engineer. <br /> <br />C. Do not allow concrete to cool rapidly. <br /> <br />D. Keep forms covered and moist during the first three (3) days of the curing
