<br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 033500 Concrete Finishing-3 <br />D. A minimum of 28 days of cure on new concrete should be provided before system <br />installation is initiated. <br /> <br />E. Protection: General Contractor shall protect areas to receive polished concrete finish at <br />all times during construction to prevent oils, dirt, metal, excessive water and other <br />potentially damaging materials from affecting the finished concrete surface. Protection <br />measures listed below shall begin immediately after the concrete slab is poured: <br /> <br />1. All hydraulic powered equipment shall be diapered to avoid staining of the <br />concrete. <br /> <br />2. All vehicle parking shall be prohibited on the finish slab area. If necessary to <br />complete their scope of work, drop cloths shall be placed under vehicles at all <br />times. <br /> <br />3. No pipe cutting machine shall be used on the finish floor slab. <br /> <br />4. Steel shall not be placed on the finish slab to avoid rust staining. <br /> <br />5. Acids should not come in contact with slab. Do not charge battery powered <br />equipment on floor areas to be polished. <br /> <br />6. All painters will use drop cloths on the concrete. If paint gets on the <br />concrete, it must be immediately removed. <br /> <br />7. No skids are to remain in contact with floor surface for an extended period of <br />time. <br /> <br />8. All trades need to be informed that the slab must be protected at all times. <br /> <br />F. Ensure that adequate lighting has been installed to support surface preparation and <br />polishing application. A minimum of half the illumination of an open facility is required. <br /> <br />1.6 MOCK-UP <br /> <br />A. Install a completed 20’x 20’ sample of the proposed system at location determined by <br />the Contractor. If approved by Owner’s Representative and the Architect, the mock- up <br />may be incorporated into the work. If a special concrete slab is placed for installation of <br />sample, it must meet the same specification as the project’s flatwork requirements for <br />the polished concrete floor areas. <br /> <br />B. Equipment, tooling and products used are to be the same specified in Section 2.02 <br />and the same that will be used for the entire project. <br /> <br />1.7 WARRANTY <br /> <br />A. The installer shall furnish a SINGLE SOURCE warranty for their system for a period of <br />one year minimum. <br /> <br />1.8 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />A. Contain and minimize dust produced by polishing. <br />
