Steel for Metal Deck Units: <br /> <br />a. Floor Deck Units: ASTM A1008, Grade C, D or ASTM 653, <br />Structural Quality, grade 40 or higher <br /> <br />b. Roof Deck Units: ASTM A1008, Grade C, D, or E, or ASTM 653, Structural <br />Quality, grade 33 or higher. <br /> <br />2. Miscellaneous Steel Shapes: ASTM A36 minimum. <br /> <br />3. Sheet metal Accessories: ASTM A526, commercial quality, galvanized. <br /> <br />C. Galvanizing: Conform to ASTM 924-94 with minimum coating class of G60 (Z180) as defined <br />in ASTM A653-94. <br /> <br />D. Paint: Manufacturers baked on, rust inhibitive paint, for application to metal surfaces which <br />have been chemically cleaned and phosphate chemical treated. <br /> <br />E. Flexible closure Strips: Manufacturer standard vulcanized, closed-cell, synthetic rubber. <br /> <br />2.2 FABRICATION <br /> <br />A. General: Form deck units in lengths to span 3 or more supports, unless otherwise noted on <br />the drawings, with flush, telescoped or nested 2" laps at ends and interlocking or nested <br />side laps, unless otherwise indicated. For roof deck units, provide deck configurations <br />complying with SDI "Roof Deck Specifications," of metal thickness, depth and width as <br />shown. <br /> <br />B. Metal Cover Plates: Fabricate metal cover plates for end-abutting floor deck units of not <br />less than same thickness as decking. Form to match contour of deck units and <br />approximately 6" wide. <br /> <br />C. Metal Closure Strips: Fabricate metal closure strips, cell closures, "Z" closures, column <br />closures, pour stops, girder fillers and openings between decking and other construction, <br />of not less than 0.045" min. (18 gage) sheet steel or as indicated on the drawings. Form to <br />provide tight fitting closures at open ends of cells or flutes and sides of decking. <br /> <br />D. Pour Stops: Minimum material thickness shall be 18 gage or as indicate on drawings... <br />Fabricate vertical leg to accommodate specified slab thickness. Fabricate horizontal leg to <br />minimize field cuts. Provide welded attachment sufficient to resist forces during concrete <br />placement. <br /> <br />E. Roof Sump Pans: Fabricate from a single piece of 0.071" min. (14 gage) galvanized sheet <br />steel with level bottoms and sloping sides to direct water flow to the drains, unless <br />otherwise shown. Provide sump pans of adequate size to receive roof drains and with <br />bearing flanges not less than 3" wide. Recess pans not less than 1 1/2" below roof deck <br />surface, unless otherwise shown or required by deck configuration. Holes for drains will be <br />cut in the field. <br />
