Fabricate [pipe] [downspout] guards from 3/8-inch- (9.5-mm-) thick by 12-inch- (300-mm- <br />) wide steel plate, bent to fit flat against the wall or column at both ends and to fit around <br />pipe with 2-inch (50-mm) clearance between pipe and pipe guard. Drill each end for two <br />3/4-inch (19-mm) anchor bolts. <br /> <br />B. Galvanize [ and prime] [pipe] [downspout] guards. <br /> <br />C. Prime [pipe] [downspout] guards with [zinc-rich primer.] [primer specified in <br />Section 099600 "High-Performance Coatings."] <br /> <br />2.20 ABRASIVE METAL [NOSINGS] [TREADS] [AND] [THRESHOLDS] <br /> <br />A. Cast-Metal Units: Cast [iron] [aluminum] [bronze (leaded red or semired brass)] [nickel <br />silver (leaded nickel bronze)], with an integral-abrasive, as-cast finish consisting of <br />aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, or a combination of both. Treads: Cross-hatched units, full depth of tread with 3/4-by-3/4-inch (19-by-19- <br />mm) nosing, for application over bent plate treads or existing stairs. <br /> <br />5. Thresholds: Fluted-saddle-type units, 5 inches (125 mm) wide by 1/2 inch (12 <br />mm) high, with tapered edges. <br /> <br />6. Thresholds: Fluted-interlocking- (hook-strip-) type units, 5 inches (125 mm) wide <br />by 5/8 inch (16 mm) high, with tapered edge. <br />
