Design Responsibility: Florida Registered Professional Engineer to prepare structural <br />computations for handrail and railing systems to determine compliance with structural <br />performance requirements. <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.1 STEEL PIPE MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Metals <br /> <br />1. Metal Surfaces, General: For fabrication of miscellaneous metal work which will <br />be exposed to view, use only materials which are smooth and free of surface <br />blemishes including pitting, seam marks, roller marks, rolled trade names, and <br />roughness. <br /> <br />2. Steel Plates, Shapes, and Bars: ASTM A36. <br /> <br />3. Steel Pipe: ASTM A53; type and grade (if applicable) as selected by fabricator and <br />as required for design loading; black finish unless galvanizing is indicated; standard <br />weight, unless otherwise indicated. <br /> <br />4. Gray Iron Castings: ASTM A48, Class 30. <br /> <br />5. Malleable Iron Castings: ASTM A47, grade as selected by fabricator. <br /> <br />6. Brackets, Flanges, and Anchors: Cast or formed metal of the same type material <br />and finish as supported rails, unless otherwise indicated. <br /> <br />7. All exterior steel pipe handrails and railings shall be galvanized and shall conform <br />to requirements of Division 05 Section, Metal Fabrication. <br /> <br />8. Finish painting by Division 09 Section, Painting. <br /> <br />B. Non-shrink, Nonmetallic Grout: Refer to Division 05 – Metal Fabrications <br /> <br />C. Fasteners <br /> <br />1. General: Provide zinc-coated fasteners for exterior use or were built into exterior <br />walls. Select fasteners for the type, grade, and class required. <br /> <br />2. Masonry Anchorage Devices: Expansion shields, FS FF-S-325. <br /> <br />3. Toggle Bolts: Tumble-wing type, FS FF-B-588, type, class, and style as required. <br /> <br />4. Concrete Anchor Bolts: Hexagon head "Kwik Bolt" by Hilti Fastening System, Tulsa, <br />Oklahoma. <br /> <br />2.2 FABRICATION <br />A. General: Comply with standards indicated. Provide railings and handrails and other <br />metalwork composed of metals of the forms and types which comply with requirements of <br />the Drawings and referenced standards, and which are free from surface blemishes where <br />exposed to view in the finished unit.
