Summary of Work: The CONTRACTOR shall provide all labor equipment and materials to <br />rework the existing rock base and shall include the adding of new lime rock material as <br />required by the plans or as specified herein. <br />1.2 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS: The following standard specifications shall apply to the work of this <br />section as indicated: <br />A. Florida Department of Transportation. <br />1. Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, (FDOT). <br />B. American Society of Testing Materials, (ASTM). <br />1. ASTM D1557-00, Standard Test Methods for Laboratory Compaction Characteristics <br />of Soil Using the Modified Effort (56,000 ft-lb/ft3 (2,700 kN-m/m3)). <br />2. ASTM D 2922-01, Standard Test Methods for Density of Soil and Soil-Aggregate in <br />Place by the Nuclear Methods (Shallow Depth). <br />C. Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Specifications for construction <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.4 SUBMITTALS : (Not Used) <br />1.5 QUALIFICATIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.6 RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not Used) <br />1.7 CERTIFICATIONS AND TESTING: <br />1.8 TESTS: If the ENGINEER deems necessary, field density tests in accordance with ASTM D 2922- <br />01, Test for Density of Soil and Soil-Aggregate in Place by the Nuclear Method will be performed. <br />The areas to be tested shall be determined by the ENGINEER. Laboratory compaction tests in <br />accordance with D1557-00 Standard Test Methods for Laboratory compaction Characteristics of Soil <br />Using the Modified Effort (56,000 ft-lbf/cu. ft.) will also be performed. The CONTRACTOR shall <br />make the site available for testing and cooperate fully to allow tests to be taken. Failure to meet <br />the specified density will require the CONTRACTOR to recompact and retest those areas directed <br />by the ENGINEER. <br />1.9 INSPECTION COORDINATION: The CONTRACTOR shall provide access to the WORK for the <br />ENGINEER as requested for inspection. The Contractor shall provide 48 hours’ notice of its intention <br />to begin new WORK activities. <br />1.10 WARRANTY: (Not Used)
