C, , <br />fP 0, SIH �. <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />FROM: Jeniffer Viscarra, Commissioner <br />DATE: March 20, 2025 <br />RE: Support for Senate Bill 50 and House Bill 371- Coastal Resilience <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />This Resolution is presented for your consideration. <br />REASONS: <br />Florida State Senators Ileana Garcia and Bryan Avila introduced Senate Bill 50, and Florida House <br />Representatives Jim Mooney and Fabian Basabe introduced House Bill 371, which promote nature - <br />based solutions to enhance coastal resilience. These°bills direct the Florida Flood Hub for Applied <br />Research and Innovation to develop guidelines for green and gray infrastructure and require the <br />Department of Environmental Protection to implement policies that support mangrove restoration, <br />shoreline protection, and flood mitigation efforts.
