RESOLUTION NO. 2025 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO <br />INSTALL A FLASHING CROSSWALK ON 196 STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE; <br />DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO DISTRIBUTE COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes its responsibility to protect <br />the health and safety of its residents and visitors; and <br />WHEREAS, the City wants to ensure that residents and visitors alike are able to walk, jog, <br />bicycle, skateboard, or use other modes of transportation safely throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, in furtherance of the City's efforts to promote mobility safety, City <br />Commission finds that a flashing crosswalk on 196th Street and Collins Avenue ("Intersection") <br />will protect the public welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of its residents and visitors, <br />including those of our neighboring community of the Town of Golden Beach, to have a safe <br />Intersection; <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of its residents and <br />visitors to request the installation of a flashing crosswalk at the Intersection. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Requesting Installation of a Flashing Crosswalk. The City Commission hereby <br />supports a proposed traffic light and crosswalk at 196th Street and Collins Avenue. <br />Section 2. Directions to the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to distribute copies <br />of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Transportation. <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 4. Effective Date.
