These bills require schools to
provide hands-on CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) training for students at multiple
grade levels and mandate the presence of at least one operational AED on school grounds by July 1,
2027. They also require schools to establish cardiac emergency response plans (CERP or PULSE),
developed in coordination with local emergency services and aligned with evidence -based best
practices, such as those recommended by the American Heart Association. By prioritizing early
intervention, preparedness, and training, these bills can significantly increase survival rates in life-
threatening situations while promoting health education and public safety throughout the school
system.
ATTACHMENTS:
Resolution
SB 430.pdf
HB 1607.pdf
Item Number: 9.S
629
