Florida Senate - 2025 <br />CS for SB 430 <br />By the Committee on Education Pre -K - 12; and Senators Simon and <br />Burgess <br />581-02506-25 <br />2025430cl <br />1 A bill to be entitled <br />2 An act relating to cardiac emergencies; amending s. <br />3 1003.453, F.S.; revising requirements for instruction <br />4 on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an <br />5 automated external defibrillator; creating s. <br />6 1003.457, F.S.; requiring each public school to <br />7 develop a cardiac emergency response plan (CERP); <br />8 requiring school officials to work with local <br />9 emergency service providers to integrate the CERP into <br />10 emergency responder protocols; requiring public <br />11 schools, including charter schools, to have at least <br />12 one operational automated external defibrillator on <br />13 school grounds by a specified date; providing <br />14 requirements for the placement and maintenance of the <br />15 defibrillators; requiring that certain school staff <br />16 receive specified training as determined by the CERP; <br />17 providing immunity from liability for school employees <br />18 and volunteers under the Good Samaritan Act and the <br />19 Cardiac Arrest Survival Act; providing construction; <br />20 requiring the State Board of Education to adopt rules; <br />21 providing an effective date. <br />22 <br />23 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: <br />24 <br />25 Section 1.
