Section 1003.457, Florida Statutes, is created <br />53 to read: <br />54 1003.457 Cardiac emergencies and automated external <br />55 defibrillators on school grounds. - <br />56 (1) Each public school shall develop a plan for urgent <br />57 life-saving emergencies (PULSE) that addresses the appropriate <br />58 use of school personnel to respond to incidents involving an <br />59 individual experiencing sudden cardiac arrest or a similar life - <br />60 threatening emergency while on school grounds. Each PULSE must <br />61 integrate evidence -based core elements and consider those <br />62 elements recommended by the American Heart Association for <br />63 schools responding to cardiac emergencies. <br />64 (2) School officials shall work directly with local <br />65 emergency service providers to integrate the PULSE into the <br />66 community's emergency responder protocols. <br />67 _(3) (a) No later than July 1, 2027, each public school, <br />68 including charter schools, must have at least one operational <br />69 automated external defibrillator on school grounds. The <br />70 defibrillator must be available in a clearly marked and <br />71 publicized location. Schools must maintain the defibrillator <br />72 according to the manufacturer's recommendations and maintain all <br />73 verification records for such defibrillators.
