RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - ,�� <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br />SEPTEMBER 18, 2025, AS EMMANUEL MACHADO DAY IN THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes <br />individuals that go above and beyond to protect and serve their community in moments of <br />crisis; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 27, 2025, a serious vehicle crash occurred in the City, resulting in a <br />vehicle plunging into a canal near Bayview Drive and Collins Avenue; and <br />WHEREAS, despite the danger and urgency of the situation, Emmanuel Machado acted <br />swiftly and selflessly to assist those involved in the crash, helping ensure that all occupants of <br />the submerged vehicle escaped safely and without injury; and <br />WHEREAS, Emmanuel Machado's courageous actions exemplify the highest standards <br />of civic responsibility, bravery, and compassion, serving as an inspiration to the residents and <br />visitors of Sunny Isles Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to formally recognize Emmanuel Machado's <br />heroic response by issuing an official proclamation in his honor. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />issuance of a proclamation recognizing September 18, 2025, as Emmanuel Machado Day in the <br />City. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
