RESOLUTION NO. 2025- S?7S A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE 114TH NATIONAL DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA (TAIWAN); PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Republic of China (Taiwan) will observe its 114th National Day on October 10, 2025, marking more than a century of democratic development and commitment to freedom and self -governance; and WHEREAS, Taiwan and the United States share a strong and enduring friendship rooted in the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, with Taiwan serving as a vital partner in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region; and WHEREAS, Taiwan is a key economic partner to both the United States and the State of Florida, ranking as the United States' 7th largest trading partner and Florida's 4th largest bilateral merchandise trade market in the Asia-Pacific region; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") wishes to formally recognize Taiwan's generous humanitarian support following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and values its multiple sister -city relationships across the nation, and its cultural ties that strengthen mutual understanding and goodwill. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the issuance of a proclamation recognizing October 10th, 2025, as National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the City. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
