RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br />RECOGNIZING THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE REGIONS <br />KNOWN AS JUDEA AND SAMARIA AND AFFIRMING THE USE OF HISTORICALLY <br />ACCURATE TERMINOLOGY IN OFFICIAL CITY COMMUNICATIONS; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the regions historically known as Judea and Samaria hold deep\cultural, <br />historical, and geopolitical significance, particularly in the context of the Jewish people's ancestral <br />heritage and the broader history of the Middle East; and <br />WHEREAS, the terminology used to describe geographic regions can carry significant <br />implications for historical accuracy, cultural recognition, and international understanding; and <br />WHEREAS, the term "West Bank" was introduced during a period of foreign occupation and <br />does not reflect the historical nomenclature associated with the region; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") values historical integrity, cultural <br />respect, and the promotion of informed civic discourse; and <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of maintaining neutrality in religious matters <br />while acknowledging the historical contributions of various cultures and peoples. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Recognition of Historical Terminology. The City Commission hereby recognizes the <br />regions commonly referred to as the "West Bank" by their historically accurate names, "Judea" and <br />"Samaria". <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
