City of Sunny Isles Beach Roadway <br />NE 174th Street Improvements <br />329300 -1 <br /> <br />Landscape <br /> <br />SECTION 329300 - LANDSCAPING <br /> <br />1.1 DESCRIPTION: <br /> <br />A. Install, establish and maintain landscaping as indicated in the Contract Documents. <br /> <br />1.2 MATERIALS: <br /> <br />A. Plants: <br />1. Grade Standards and Conformity with Type and Species: <br />a. Only use nursery grown plant materials purchased from Florida based <br />Nurseryman Stock that comply with all required inspection, grading standards, <br />and plant regulations in accordance with the latest edition of the Florida <br />Department of Agriculture’s “Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants.” <br />b. Unless otherwise specified, minimum grade for all plants is Florida No. 1 or <br />better. All plants must be the specified size and grade at the time of delivery to <br />the site and the minimum grade maintained throughout the project construction <br />period and plant establishment period. <br />c. Use only plants that are true to type and species and ensure that the plants not <br />specifically covered by Florida Department of Agriculture’s “Grades and <br />Standards for Nursery Plants” conform in type and species with the standards and <br />designations in general acceptance by Florida nurseries. <br />d. Prior to planting, furnish certification to the Engineer that all plant materials have <br />been purchased from Florida based Nurseryman Stock. <br />e. A minimum of two plants of each species on each shipment must be shipped with <br />tags stating the botanical nomenclature and common name of the plant. <br />f. Should discrepancies between botanical nomenclature and common name arise, <br />the botanical name will take precedence. <br />2. Inspection and Transporting: <br />a. Move nursery stock in accordance with all federal and state regulations and <br />accompany each shipment with the required inspection certificates for filing with <br />the Engineer. <br />B. Water: <br />1. The water used in the landscape irrigation operations during the establishment period <br />may be obtained from any approved source. <br />2. The water shall be free of any substance which might be harmful to plant growth. <br />Effluent water shall meet all Federal, State and local requirements. <br /> <br />C. Mulching: <br /> <br />1. Source Requirements for Sod and Mulch: <br />a. The Contractor shall comply with all current restrictions in regard to movement <br />of sod and mulch material, as required by the Division of Plant Industry, Florida <br />Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services <br />(www.doacs.state.fl.us/pi/plantinsp/pi_reg_summary.html ). <br />2. Material: <br />a. Mulch shall be made entirely from the above ground portion wood and bark of <br />the Melaleuca Quinquenervia Tree.
