RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH RESIDENTS' SPORTS <br />PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO PROVIDE <br />RECOMMENDATIONS ON CITY -SPONSORED SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL <br />PROGRAMS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SOLICIT COMMITTEE <br />APPLICATIONS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") offers various sports programs and <br />activities through its Cultural and Community Services Department ("CCSD") to promote health, <br />wellness, and community engagement; and <br />WHEREAS, the current process for selecting and offering these programs lacks <br />transparency and sufficient input from residents, the primary users, leading to potential <br />mismatches between community needs and available offerings; and <br />WHEREAS, vendor selection for delivering these programs is often obscure, without <br />clear criteria or public 'oversight, which may hinder accountability and optimal use of City <br />resources; and <br />WHEREAS, creating a Residents' Sports Programs and Activities Advisory Committee <br />composed of diverse resident stakeholders would ensure inclusive feedback, enhance program <br />relevance, and improve transparency in vendor procurement; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the City's Charter, advisory committees are appointed by the <br />City Commission to provide expert guidance on municipal matters, and this committee will <br />consist of 5 members to maintain efficiency while representing resident voices; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interests of its residents to <br />approve this resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Establishment of Advisory Committee. The Residents' Sports Programs and <br />Activities Advisory Committee is hereby established, consisting of 5 appointed members <br />according to the Charter. <br />Section 2. Duration of Committee. The Committee shall be effective from January to August <br />2026. <br />Section 3. Duties and Responsibilities.
