��, `ppb'= -;.Q• �r <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager. <br />FROM: Julio Davila, Code Compliance Manager. <br />DATE: September 18, 2025 <br />RE: Amend Chap. 14 - Code Enforcement <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends adoption of this ordinance. <br />REASONS: <br />The proposed ordinance provides an update to the City's Chapter 14 Titled Code Enforcement which <br />has outdated definitions, processes, and lacks a specific procedure for the reduction of fines and/or <br />liens. <br />Specifically, this ordinance provides the following updates to the existing Code Enforcement Chapter <br />14: <br />• Revises definitions of the department and manager. <br />• Adds qualifications for Special Magistrate selection. <br />• Provides authority to the City or Division Manager to give additional extensions to cases making <br />progress, without having to go to a hearing. <br />• Gives alleged violators more time to appeal a citation. <br />• Updates the amount of fines our municipality can assess so it meets Florida Statutes. <br />• Establishes a specific procedure for outstanding fines and/or liens to be reduced. <br />• U pdates the schedule of fines by removing county code sections. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Ordinance <br />Item Number: 8.0 <br />56 <br />
