ORDINANCE NO. 2025 -1&1— <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2024-618; APPROVING BUDGET <br />AMENDMENT NO. BA2425-06 TO THE CITY'S OPERATING AND CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT BUDGET FOR THE 2024-2025 FISCAL YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE TERMS <br />AND CONDITIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 200.065 and 166.241, Florida Statutes, and the <br />City Charter, the City Commission adopted the budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 ("Budget") by <br />Ordinance No. 2024-618; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Finance Director has determined a need to amend the Budget to: <br />(1) transfer $76,334 from the Police Department to the Ocean Rescue Department for the <br />purchase of Ocean Rescue vehicles. This funding was originally included in budget amendment <br />BA2425-04 under the Police Department; (2) allocate $227,476 to support the creation of two <br />Ocean Rescue Supervisor positions, representing an increase of two full-time equivalents. These <br />roles will be filled through internal promotion of experienced full-time lifeguards, ensuring <br />continuity of service and leadership development within the team; (3) transfer $45,022 from <br />the Code Compliance Department to the Parking Compliance Department for the purchase of <br />one vehicle. This funding was originally included in budget amendment BA2425-04 under the <br />Code Compliance Department; (4) allocate $255,000 for the Public Works steel building and <br />storage shed. These additional funds are required to support continued construction and <br />implement engineering recommendations, which include the installation of helical piles, to <br />ensure safe and proper foundation support; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is necessary to amend the <br />Budget, as set forth in Exhibit "A", based upon the review and analysis provided by the Finance <br />Director. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified <br />and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part by this Ordinance <br />upon adoption hereof. <br />Section 2. Budget Amendment. The Budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 adopted by <br />Ordinance No. 2024-618 is hereby amended as Amendment No. BA2425-06 to reflect the <br />revisions in Exhibit "A". All other terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 2024-618 not <br />otherwise amended by this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager.
