Edelcup K-8 School each school
day.
To support these efforts, Speed Detection Systems will be implemented as an additional tool to help
reduce speeding and improve public safety in school zones. These systems are designed to encourage
safer driving behaviors and create a more secure environment for everyone in our community.
To address these safety concerns, State law requires that the City Commission adopt an Ordinance
which will:
• Officially designate the School Zones as areas of elevated safety risk based on the findings of
the School Zone Speed Study and supporting documentation;
• Authorize the installation and operation of Speed Detection Systems (SDS) within the School
Zones;
• Establish procedures for issuing notices of violation for school zone speeding offenses, to be
carried out by duly qualified traffic infraction enforcement officers in accordance with Section
Item Number: 8.6
47
