RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - 307 ' <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AN INTERLOCAL LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FOR THE CONTINUED <br />OPERATION OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY FACILITY WITHIN THE CITY'S GOVERNMENT <br />CENTER; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORIZATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") has long <br />expressed its commitment to the presence of a public library to its residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the original lease agreement between the City and Miami -Dade County (the <br />"Library") provided for a 7,500 square -foot library space and a programming room, with a twenty- <br />year term; and <br />WHEREAS, the Library furnished and equipped the space at its own expense and has <br />continued to provide open access to all Miami -Dade County residents; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2011, the City supported expanded library hours by entering into an <br />amendment to cover associated staffing costs for one year in the amount of $13,330.24; and <br />WHEREAS, since that time, the Library has invested approximately $750,000.00 in facility <br />improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, through successful negotiations, the City and the Library have agreed to enter <br />into a new interlocal lease agreement under substantially similar terms as the original, including <br />a nominal annual rent and proportional utility and maintenance costs; and <br />WHEREAS, the new interlocal lease agreement provides for an initial term of five (5) years, <br />with three (3) five (5) year renewal options; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of its residents to <br />approve this resolution. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Lease Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />Interlocal Lease Agreement, attached here to as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said Lease <br />Agreement. <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager.
