+� * F PLO <br />c,fl <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />FROM: Stan Morris, City Manager. <br />DATE: August 21, 2025 <br />RE: Approval of a Lease Agreement with the Miami -Dade County Public Library <br />System <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of this Resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />Dating back to December 9, 1999, through Resolution 99-183 and subsequently Resolutions 2000-208, <br />2001-315, and 2002-443, there has been a strong desire by the City to have a library located within it's <br />government center. The original agreement provided for the City to build out a space of 7,500 square <br />feet plus a programming room. The agreement was for an initial 20 year term for rent payment of $1 <br />per year plus their proportionate share of utilities and maintenance. The library provided a design plan, <br />all furniture, shelving, books, supplies and equipment, including computer equipment. The library is <br />open and available for all Miami -Dade County residents. <br />In 2011, the City wished to extend the hours of the library. To accomplish this, the City entered into an <br />amendment to the agree to pay the salary expenses of the extended hours. This amendment was for a <br />term of one year and at a cost of $13,330.24 to the City. Since this time, the County has remodeled the <br />library and invested $750,000. The community is appreciative of the services they provide. <br />Through negotiations, the county and I have agreed to all of the original payment terms of $1 per year <br />plus their percentage share of utilities and maintenance, as well as the original responsibilities for <br />interior repairs and improvements by them and exterior repairs and approvements by us. the following <br />which are detailed in the attached agreement: <br />• Term: 5 years with three 5 year renewal options. <br />Item Number: 9.H <br />313 <br />
