RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - �2)�O <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br />JANUARY 27, 2026, AS INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed annually on January <br />27 to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and to honor the memory of the six million <br />Jewish men, women, and children, as well as millions of other innocent victims, who were <br />systematically persecuted and murdered by the Nazi regime and its collaborators; and <br />WHEREAS, the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27 as International <br />Holocaust Remembrance Day to promote education, remembrance, and awareness of the <br />Holocaust in order to prevent future acts of genocide and hatred; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") is a diverse and inclusive community <br />that values human dignity, mutual respect, and the protection of fundamental human rights; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, recognizing International Holocaust Remembrance Day affirms the City's <br />commitment to remembering historical atrocities, combating antisemitism and all forms of <br />hatred, and educating future generations on the importance of tolerance, justice, and moral <br />responsibility; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to issue a proclamation recognizing January 27, <br />2026, as International Holocaust Remembrance Day in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />issuance of a proclamation recognizing January 27, 2026, as International Holocaust <br />Remembrance Day in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
