City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />Proclamation <br />€ y4 <br />id,P\a <br />a 4F fuN st" <br />WHEREAS, International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed annually on <br />January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration <br />and extermination camp, to honor the memory of the six million Jewish men, women, and <br />children, as well as millions of other innocent victims, who were systematically <br />persecuted and murdered by the Nazi regime and its collaborators during the Holocaust; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Holocaust stands as one of the darkest chapters in human history and <br />serves as a solemn reminder of the consequences of unchecked hatred, antisemitism, <br />discrimination, and indifference; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27 as <br />International Holocaust Remembrance Day to encourage education, remembrance, and <br />reflection in order to prevent future acts of genocide and crimes against humanity; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City') is a diverse and inclusive <br />community that values human dignity, mutual respect, and the protection offundamental <br />human rights for all people, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or background; and <br />WHEREAS, remembering the Holocaust honors the victims and survivors, preserves <br />historical truth, and reinforces the moral responsibility of present and future generations <br />to confront hatred, bigotry, and intolerance wherever they arise; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is committed to fostering understanding, promoting tolerance, and <br />standing against antisemitism and all forms of hatred through education, civic <br />engagement, and community dialogue. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, DO I, Larisa Svechin, as Mayor, and on behalf of the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach, hereby proclaim January 27, 2026, as "International Holocaust <br />Remembrance Day" in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Date: January 27, 2026 <br />Mayor Larisa Svechin <br />778 <br />
