RESOLUTION NO.2026 - S-OP52-- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF PROCLAMATIONS REQUESTED BY CITY <br />ADMINISTRATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on May 15t', 2025, via Ordinance No. 2025-628, the City Commission of the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") adopted a policy and procedure requiring Commission <br />approval prior to the issuance of official City proclamations; and <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of honoring the dedicated public service <br />and hard work of its employees, often through acknowledgment aligned with nationally or <br />locally designated observance days or weeks; and <br />WHEREAS, such proclamations serve to bolster employee morale and highlight the <br />essential roles played by municipal staff in delivering quality services to the community; and <br />WHEREAS, to streamline the approval process and promote efficiency, City <br />Administration requests Commission approval for employee recognition proclamations issued <br />throughout the 2026 calendar year; and <br />WHEREAS, this process applies exclusively to proclamations initiated by the City <br />Administration and does not affect those brought forward by elected officials. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS': <br />Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamations. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />issuance of the requested proclamations by City Administration, as follows: <br />January <br />January 16 — Florida Arbor Day <br />February <br />February 15 — School Resource Officer Appreciation Day <br />February 21— Government Communicator's Day <br />March <br />March 11— Procurement Professional's Day <br />March 12 — Family Resource Day <br />March 2 through March 6 — Flood Awareness Week <br />March 18 —Transit Driver Appreciation Day <br />1 This resolution was amended during the commission meeting, but prior to approval.
