" AQ <br />e� rFL ay <br />rT} of S'j U' <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager <br />FROM: Fabricio Volpi, Public Works Director <br />DATE: March 19, 2026 <br />RE: Approval of First Amendment with MBR Construction, INC. for the <br />Construction of the Intracoastal Sports Court Complex <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of this resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />On July 25, 2024, the city issued ITB #24-07-02 titled Construction of Intracoastal Sports Park. The <br />solicitation was uploaded on DemandStar.com, and distributed to over 1200 contractors, in which 81 <br />became Planholders. On September 6, 2024, the City received nine (9) electronic bid submissions. <br />MBR Construction (MBR) submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid in the amount of <br />$3,197,762.76. The original contract award was for a substantial completion within 180 Calendar days & <br />final completion within 240 calendar days. The NTP was issued on August 1, 2025, and brings us to <br />March 29th, 2026. This amendment requests an additional 132 calendar days, extending final <br />completion to August 8, 2026. <br />Due to additional scope of work added throughout the contract such as conduit for CCTV cameras, <br />installation of exercise equipment, additional extension of sidewalks, lime rock subgrade underneath <br />walking path, additional conduit for entry sign to be installed by others, retaining wall for subgrade at <br />two areas of the seawall location and abandonment of water connection on Collins Ave., the City is <br />requesting additional funds in an amount not to exceed $200,000. The additional compensation <br />provided herein will bring the total Agreement not -to -exceed amount to $3,717,539.04. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br />Item Number: 9.N <br />313 <br />
