Throughout the years since its completion, the tile around the
fountain has been fully replaced once and patched several times. It's current condition is deplorable and
not representative of the quality city that is Sunny Isles Beach. Administration budgeted for, and the
City Commission approved, to have the area restored and improved with an emphasis on a more
resilient solution. Utilizing the architects that are qualified on our list of CCNA architects as per RFP 20-
07-01, city staff recommends entering into a project agreement with Rodriguez Architects, Inc. (RAI) for
the design of this renovation.
The project will consist of resurfacing the pool area of the fountain, upgrading the lighting, jets and
wiring to code -compliant devices, restoring the walls surrounding the fountain, and converting the
pavers around the area to colored concrete to maintain the design style that was the original design
intent. RAI has agreed to perform this work in an amount not -to -exceed $70,400.00.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
City staff and RAI have built time into this agreement to bring the preliminary design to the City
Commission for consideration before drafting the construction documents.
A complete copy of the contract file, including all exhibits and attachments, is on file with the Office of
Item Number: 9.Q
386
