Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> DATE: 1/15/2015 <br /> Approval to Expend Partial Forfeiture (DOJ) Funds for <br /> RE: the purchase of non-budgeted special service police <br /> vehicles and associated equipment and markings, in an <br /> amount not to exceed $140,176.16 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission approve the expenditure <br /> of partial Federal (DOJ) Forfeiture Funds, previously awarded to the <br /> Police Department as the results of investigative participation in <br /> forfeiture and seizure cases. These funds are permissible by law to be <br /> spent for the purchases of police equipment and other law <br /> enforcement activities. It is requested that we be permitted to utilize up <br /> to $140,176.16 of said funds on deposit for such purpose. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department actively participates in DEA <br /> / FBI and HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Initiative <br /> Groups that conduct numerous ongoing proactive investigations and <br /> now has a need for the attached listed vehicles and associated <br /> equipment. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> One of the benefits of participating in and providing personnel into <br /> http://sunnyisles.novusagenda.com/CoverSheet.aspx7ltemID=1546 1/2 <br />
