JUAN S. CALDERON, PE, PTOE, PTP, RSP1 <br />PROJECT MANAGER <br />PROFILE <br />Mr. Calderon has over 29 years of experience in traffic/ transportation engineering with a Master’s <br />Degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Calderon has managed multiple traffic and planning engineering <br />projects with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and multiple clients including Miami- <br />Dade County, Broward County, cities such as Miami Gardens, Miramar, Coral Gables, Miami, Miami <br />Beach, and private developers. <br />KEY DESIGN PROJECTS <br />Mr. Calderon’s design experience includes positions of Project Manager, Designer, Senior Engineer, <br />and Engineer of Record (EOR) for roadway, signalization, signing and pavement markings Maintenance <br />of Traffic (MOT), and lighting as part of 3R and widening/reconstruction projects. <br />Mr. Calderon is very familiar with FDOT Standard Plans, the FDOT Design Manual (FDM), and AASHTO <br />roadway design standards. His experience encompasses FDOT LAP projects, pavement design, <br />drainage, specifications, variances, and utility coordination. He is also IMSA and MOT Certified. <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach | Continuing Transportation and Traffic Engineering Services (Multiple <br />Contracts) | 2018–Present | Project ManagerManaged and conducted multiple transportation planning, <br />traffic operations, and safety assignments throughout the City. Projects included the A1A Pedestrian <br />Bridge Justification Report (2018–2019), evaluating mid-block crossing activity, future build-out <br />conditions, safety, and benefit-cost considerations; Pier Park Traffic Engineering Study (2019), <br />analyzing parking utilization, license-plate data, and turnover; Central Island Improvements and Master <br />Plan and Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8 School Operating Plan (2021–2026), addressing <br />neighborhood access, circulation, pedestrian activity, and school-zone operations; Collins Avenue at <br />183rd Street Signal Survey and Subsurface Utility Engineering (2024); Golden Shores Speed Studies <br />(2024); and Collins Avenue at 183rd Street Signal Design (2024–2025), including signal improvements, <br />utility coordination, and final design. <br />FDOT D4 |Continuing Services for Project Scoping | 2019-Present | Project Manager <br />Scoped process support. Multiple assignments; including Enhanced Pavement Management Program <br />with a primary objective to develop framework of reliable mechanisms to ensure and accurately identify <br />all FDOT D4 pavement deficient segments to be assigned for scoping and gaming. Prepare scoping <br />reports as part of future 3R (resurfacing projects), including evaluation of ADA along sidewalks and curb <br />ramps, transit stops, signalization and stripping. This analysis <br />included an evaluation of existing condition, motorized and non-motorized traffic data collection, and <br />statistical analysis including big data, parking analysis, crashes, transit in order to develop short- and <br />long-term solutions as part of the master plan. Among the improvements proposed included traffic <br />calming features and reversible lanes with innovative ideas evaluated such as roundabout metering, <br />raised intersections, woonerf urban street, and lane eliminations.
