In response, the City seeks to explore potential modifications <br />within the 19th Street right-of-way (ROW) to mitigate this reduction through the addition of on- <br />street parking. <br />The 19th Street corridor serves a critical role within the urban fabric of the City, providing access to <br />several major civic and cultural destinations, including the Miami Beach Convention Center, Pride <br />Park, and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The area is frequently utilized by residents, visitors, <br />and event attendees, and therefore, maintaining adequate and conveniently located parking is <br />essential to support the functionality and vitality of this district. <br />As part of this study, CES conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the existing ROW to identify <br />and assess feasible modifications to the corridor’s surface features, including traffic lanes, medians, <br />green spaces, and parking configurations. Each potential alternative was analyzed in terms of its <br />advantages and disadvantages, considering impacts to traffic operations, pedestrian safety, green <br />space preservation, and aesthetic character. The analysis also involved coordination with key City <br />of Miami Beach departments—including Parking, Transportation, and Public Works—to ensure <br />consistency with municipal design standards, operational goals, and regulatory requirements. <br />Feedback was additionally sought from adjacent stakeholders such as the Miami Beach Botanical <br />Garden, which has a significant interest in maintaining accessibility, safety, and the visual integrity <br />of the surrounding area. Following this coordination and analysis, the study compared alternatives <br />based on constructability, cost, operational performance, and overall integration with the surrounding <br />urban environment. The findings presented reflected a balanced consideration of these factors to <br />guide the City in determining the most suitable approach to improving parking capacity along 19th <br />Street while maintaining compliance with applicable City requirements and preserving the corridor’s <br />civic and aesthetic value.
