The improvements included installing new curbs, modifying existing catch basins, installing <br />new concrete pads, milling and resurfacing, and landscaping. CES was responsible for visiting <br />the field, preparing daily reports for those field visits, inspecting construction to assure it meets <br />Village standards, confirming the contractor is adhering to Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan <br />requirements, documenting progress of construction, and producing punchlist at project completion. <br />CEI Services – Beach Park Renovation: CES is providing construction engineering inspection <br />services for this project, which includes improvements to the existing park facilities, including <br />selective demolition, concrete and structural repairs, rough carpentry and boardwalk improvements, <br />metal roofing, railings, stone finishes, exterior painting, electrical upgrades, exterior lighting, video <br />surveillance infrastructure, earthwork, and landscape restoration. <br />Stormwater Program – Zone 1 (K-8 Basin) Resiliency Improvements Estimate and Value Engineering <br />Services: CES provided independent peer review and cost estimating services, which included a <br />detailed review of the design and construction cost estimate prepared by AECOM. CES assessed <br />the level of design completion, identified missing elements in both the plans and estimate, and <br />provided recommendations to address the gaps. Leveraging our experience with similar stormwater <br />infrastructure projects, CES revised quantity takeoffs, incorporated omitted scope items, and <br />validated or adjusted unit prices to align with current market conditions. The result was a more <br />accurate and complete cost estimate to support the Village’s decision-making and funding strategy. <br />Design for Community Center Grinder Pump Removal: CES is designing a new connection to the <br />existing gravity sewer system for the Village of Key Biscayne Community Center after the elimination <br />of the existing grinder pump station in the Community Center parking garage. Scope includes <br />confirming the feasibility of the project, including reviewing survey and as-builts and coordinating <br />with Village personnel and grinder station maintenance personnel, as well as preparing design <br />drawings. Project deliverables include 60%, 90%, and 100% (bid set) design plans, as well as permit <br />set design plans, including assisting in permitting services. <br />Separately, CES provided interim leadership and infrastructure support for the Village’s Public <br />Works Department. During this time, CES assisted Village staff serving in the temporary role of <br />Interim Public Works Director. In this capacity, CES performed plans reviews, reviewed upcoming <br />solicitations and recently awarded contracts, assisted contractors working on construction projects, <br />communicated with FPL regarding power outages, provided public outreach addressing residents’ <br />concerns, and assisted Village staff with their upcoming stormwater initiative.
