The development of this new park space was to be partially funded by The <br />Garden Club and dedicated to honor Mrs. Lamar Louise Curry, one of their most distinguished <br />members. One of the tasks was to prepare a conceptual design for the park to incorporate a <br />passive space for families with small children to wait while other family members visit the <br />Venetian Pool. Several conceptual plan options were prepared for review by the City staff, and <br />as a result, the final plan featured an open space play area, two shaded seating areas, two <br />raised planter boxes, and a rock garden that will function as a water filtration system for the <br />overspill water from the Venetian Pool. A diverse palette of tropical trees and flowering plant <br />material was also selected and approved by the Garden Club. <br />CGA’s Landscape Architecture staff assisted the City’s Project Management team with <br />this effort by preparing detailed construction documents for the demolition, new site plan, <br />landscaping, fencing, irrigation design, walkways, lighting, and water features in the park. <br />CGA’s Civil Engineering staff developed plans for additional drainage and sidewalk/crosswalk <br />improvements to further enhance the area surrounding the park. Permitting, bidding, and <br />construction observation were also part of the contract. <br />The scope of work for the project includes the following: 1) Updated tree and boundary survey <br />of the space; 2) Conceptual master plan and renderings; 3) Budget of anticipated construction <br />costs to accompany master plan concepts; 4) Two community meeting presentations with <br />color rendered site plan and image boards; and 5) Preparation of construction drawings and <br />providing bidding and construction services. <br />The project was completed on June 7, 2022. <br />LAMAR LOUISE CURRY PARK <br />Coral Gables, FL
