<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SEA CASTLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL <br />Miramar, Florida <br /> <br />Client: Broward County Public Schools <br />Program: Facility Renovation <br />Construction Cost: $3 Million <br />Services: Mechanical • Electrical • Fire Alarm • Roofing • Accessibility • Construction <br />Administration <br />PROJECT OVERVIEW <br />Crain Atlantis provided engineering and construction-phase services for renovations to Sea Castle <br />Elementary School. The design-bid-build project included fire alarm system upgrades, HVAC <br />improvements, roofing improvements at Building 81, accessibility upgrades, and indoor air quality <br />improvements. The work required coordination of multiple building systems within an existing, <br />occupied educational facility. <br />CRAIN ATLANTIS' ROLE <br />HVAC & Mechanical Systems <br />Designed building-system improvements including rotary chillers, exhaust fans, and associated <br />HVAC upgrades, together with improvements intended to enhance indoor air quality throughout the <br />school. <br /> <br />Electrical & Fire Alarm Improvements <br />Provided engineering associated with fire alarm system upgrades and coordinated electrical <br />requirements with the facility's mechanical and life-safety improvements. <br /> <br />Roofing & Building Improvements <br />The renovation program included roofing improvements at Building 81, requiring coordination with <br />other building systems and rooftop equipment. <br /> <br />Accessibility Improvements <br />Designed an ADA stage lift as part of the overall facility renovation, improving accessibility within the <br />existing school. <br /> <br />Hurricane Wind Design <br />Because the school is located within the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, Crain performed evaluation <br />and design work addressing 180-MPH wind conditions, including windows, roofing, and rooftop <br />equipment. <br /> <br />Construction Administration <br />Crain's documented role included construction administration, providing professional support during <br />implementation of the improvements. <br /> <br />
