<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />NEW RIVER MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />Fort Lauderdale, Florida <br /> <br />Client: Broward County Public Schools <br />Program: Facility Renovation <br />Construction Cost: $2.1 Million <br />Services: Structural Engineering • Roofing • Building Envelope • Hurricane Wind Design • <br />Construction Administration <br /> <br /> <br />PROJECT OVERVIEW <br />Crain Atlantis provided engineering services for renovations to New River Middle School, including <br />structural design for approximately 66,731 SF of roofing on Buildings 1 and 2. The work required the <br />evaluation and design of existing building components within South Florida's High Velocity Hurricane <br />Zone and the coordination of improvements on an operating school campus. <br />CRAIN ATLANTIS' ROLE <br />Roofing & Building Envelope <br />Provided engineering design for approximately 66,731 SF of roofing improvements at Buildings 1 and <br />2, including partial roof deck repair/replacement where required. Crain's work addressed existing <br />building conditions and integration of the new roofing systems. <br /> <br />Structural Engineering <br />Provided structural evaluation and design associated with the roofing improvements, including <br />consideration of existing roof systems and rooftop equipment. <br /> <br />Hurricane Wind Design <br />Because the campus is located within the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, Crain performed evaluation <br />and design work to address 180-MPH wind conditions, including roofing, windows and rooftop <br />equipment. <br /> <br />Phased Design Development <br />Crain's documented services included Schematic Design, Design Development, 50% Construction <br />Documents and 100% Construction Documents, demonstrating progressive development of the <br />renovation from initial design through final construction documents. <br /> <br />Construction Administration <br />Crain's scope extended to construction administration, providing professional support during the <br />implementation of the improvements.
