MONTENEGRO, P.E. PRESIDENT/SENIOR GEOTECHNICAL MANAGER <br /> Mr. Montenegro has over 40 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering. He has been <br />involved in numerous foundation and soil studies including deep and shallow foundation analysis, <br />foundation settlement, slope stability and roadway studies. Mr. Montenegro responsibilities include <br />planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all the administrative and technical activities for GCES <br />Engineering Services, LLC. He has served as Senior Geotechnical Engineer on several Florida <br />Department of Transportation bridge foundation projects that contained driven piles and drilled shafts, <br />roadway, and ITS projects. The following is a partial listing of his project experience. <br /> RELATED EXPERIENCE <br /> New Terminal T5 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) Flyover Bridge Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, FL. Conducted a geotechnical engineering exploration for the New T5 <br />Terminal project at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Broward County, FL. The <br />project involves the construction of a new five-gate unit terminal referred to as Terminal 5. The <br />geotechnical phase of the project consists of providing geotechnical recommendations in connection with <br />a new single-lane flyover bridge that connects to the Terminal Drive exit bridge. Evaluated different <br />foundation types alternatives. Square precast prestressed concrete driven piles (PPCP), 24-inch square, <br />was selected as the preferable foundation system for the flyover bridge. Provided recommendations for <br />pile length and bearing elevation to achieve the nominal resistance and to minimize postconstruction <br />settlements. <br /> Port of Miami - North Cruise Blvd. Extension – Phase IIB, Flyover Bridge, Miami-Dade County, FL - Project consisted the construction of a new flyover bridge structure at the Port of Miami. Geotechnical <br />services included field exploration and laboratory testing and foundation design of the proposed <br />structure. Several foundation alternatives were evaluated including shallow foundations, square precast <br />prestressed concrete (SPC) piles, steel piles, straight sided drilled shafts and auger cast pile (ACP). <br />Auger cast piles alternative was the preferable foundation system for the project. <br />Caribbean Boulevard Bridge over C-1N Canal, Miami, FL. Conducted a geotechnical exploration and <br />evaluation for the design and construction of the Caribbean Boulevard Bridge over C-1N Canal in Cutler <br />Bay, Florida. Performed foundation analyses for the proposed bridge that included compression, tension, <br />and lateral load capacity predictions of square driven precast prestressed concrete pile foundations, as <br />well as settlement estimates and pile installation criteria and addressed the potential impact of pile driving <br />vibrations on the existing structures including utilities. <br /> <br />Roadway Improvement of SR 934/NW 74St from SR 826 / Palmetto Expressway to SR 251 Okeechobee Road in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Prepared a geotechnical report describing <br />methods, procedures, field/laboratory test results, analyses and evaluations for the proposed roadway <br />improvements. The subsurface exploration also included the evaluation of subsurface conditions and <br />stratums of the underlying layers for mast arms and pier protection barrier walls. Presented in our report <br />were a summary of the geotechnical soil/rock parameters at each boring location for use in the foundation <br />design of the proposed mast arm structures and pier protection barrier walls foundations. <br /> <br /> <br />
