R E L E VA N T E X P E R I E N C E <br />Godfrey House <br />LO CATION <br />West Palm Beach, FL <br />SI ZE <br />1,200 SF <br />S COPE <br />Design Services <br />CO MP L ETI ON <br />2024 <br />COST <br />N/A <br />EXPERT I SE <br />Residential <br />Dempsey Design served as Lead Architect for the restoration of the Godfrey <br />House, a historic residence in West Palm Beach’s Historic Northwest <br />neighborhood. <br />Challenges: The home’s historic designation required careful reconstruction <br />planning, accurate documentation, and compliance with preservation and <br />building-code requirements while working within a modest homeowner <br />budget. Existing conditions also had to be clearly documented so that <br />restoration decisions could be made with confidence and unnecessary <br />construction costs avoided. <br />Our Approach: Working directly with the client, Principal Architect Eric <br />Dempsey led detailed field documentation and prepared precise existing- <br />condition drawings to guide the restoration. In coordination with the project’s <br />MEP consultant, Dempsey Design developed permit documents focused on <br />code compliance, constructability, and cost-conscious solutions appropriate to <br />the historic character of the home. <br />Benefits: The project established a clear, practical path toward completion <br />while preserving the architectural character of the residence.
