GEI Consultants | City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01 54 <br />Bellport Municipal Dock Reconstruction <br />Incorporated Village of Bellport | Bellport, NY <br />The Bellport Municipal Dock is located on the west coast of Bellport Bay <br />in the Village of Bellport, NY. Originally constructed circa 1920, the facility <br />comprises an earth-filled pier supporting a parking facility, marina, beach, <br />and the Village Yacht Club. <br />Initially contracted to perform a comprehensive inspection of the bulkhead to classify the <br />damage conditions relating to Superstorm Sandy, GEI’s scope was expanded to leading <br />all aspects of the project’s development and execution. Acting as the Village’s agent, our <br />waterfront engineers managed the solicitation of grant funds from FEMA to redesign, permit, <br />and reconstruct the damaged pier system, comprised of the perimeter bulkhead, site/civil, and <br />MEP pier components. <br />FEMA obligated funding for the project in 2017. GEI is currently retained as the prime <br />consultant to analyze the structure, design the in-kind replacement of the pier, and provide <br />necessary construction oversight and FEMA coordination. The construction project was <br />authorized and awarded in mid-2019, with work commencing later that year and completed <br />in early 2020. <br />Key aspects of the design and construction administration included preparing multi-discipline <br />technical documents, implementing appropriate stormwater management elements adhering <br />to the Village’s MS4 master plan, developing and monitoring an eff ective Stormwater Pollution <br />Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for erosion control, and managing the conversion of the FEMA project <br />classification from a Replace In-Kind to an Improved Project that utilized composite materials <br />to substantially extend serviceable life while reducing maintenance cost.
