The study provided recommendations for traffic calming devices to address speeding and related problems identified by the City’s police department, residents, and city staff. The analysis and study was limited to public right-of-way roadway corridors and followed applicable guidance in the Manual of Uniform Minimum Standards for Design, Construction, and Maintenance for Streets and Highways (Florida Greenbook). Using Signal Four Analytics, Corradino evaluated the most recent five years of intersection and roadway-segment crash data, including number of crashes, crash type (vehicle/bike/pedestrian), time of day, roadway conditions, and other variables. <br />The analysis found that traffic volumes on several local streets met the applicable 2018 Florida Greenbook guidelines and that 85th-percentile speeds measured exceeded posted limits by 6 to 13 miles per hour along some study corridors. Based on these findings, Corradino developed and prioritized a cost-estimated traffic calming improvement program based on the reduction of potential crashes and speeding.
