REASONS Over the past year. I have received numerous complaints about commercial vehicles obstructing the flow of traffic on Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard. Based on these complaints. I have asked the City Manager and the City Attorney to find solutions to the obstruction caused by commercial vehicles on the City's primary streets. The flow of traffic is generally obstructed from 163rd Street to 178 Street during the peak hours. Based on communications with Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT"). the City has been provided with the authority to strictly enforce the state traffic obstruction statutes relating. to Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard. Simply put, the City has the authority to issue tickets to commercial vehicles, which block the flow of traffic on Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard. As such, I am asking the City Commission to approve this Resolution to authorize the City Manager or designee to strictly enforce the State of Florida traffic obstruction statutes relating to Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard based on guidance provided by FDOT.
