Description and location of work: <br /> <br />The Arch Creek Pedestrian Bridges project is a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) LAP project. <br />The bridges have been designed per FDOT criteria to include the American Association of Highway <br />Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Guide Specifications for the Design of Pedestrian Bridges. This <br />project involved the replacement of two existing pedestrian bridge structures with two single-span steel truss <br />pedestrian bridges along the Arch Creek bicycle/shared-use path connecting NE 135th Street to FIU <br />Biscayne Bay Campus in the City of North Miami, Florida. The two bridges are comprised of cast-in-place <br />reinforced concrete abutments supported by 24” square prestressed concrete piles, 12ft x 62ft prefabricated <br />steel truss bridges with cast in place concrete bridge deck, asphalt approach repairs and bridge painting. <br /> <br />3. Relevancy To Work Classes: <br /> <br />Ebsary Foundation Company was contracted to perform heavy highway and bridge construction utilizing all <br />of equipment, manpower, type of construction and management requirements all directly relate to <br />Intermediate Bridge Construction. Most specifically this project incorporated start to finish Intermediate <br />Bridge Construction, with center to center concrete pier spacing of 60ft on center; additionally it included, <br />cast in place concrete bridge deck, cast in place approach slabs and pile cap construction, bridge truss <br />erection, bridge painting and concrete coating, site work and canal grading. Additionally, this project was <br />performed in an environmentally sensitive location within Arch Creek and required turbidity control and <br />numerous levels of inspections, quality control and certification in conformance with FDOT Standard <br />Specifications for Roadway and Bridge Construction. <br /> <br />6.
