28 City of Sunny Isles Beach New Facility Qualifications for Architectural Design Services
Sustainable Communities
Our practice is active in the pursuit
of sustainability at all scales. In order
to achieve true sustainability, it must
be addressed as a holistic system at
building, community, and regional
scales. Our Urban Design practice
is pioneering the latest thinking in
vibrant, sustainable cities and health
districts. By engaging local communi-
ties, we are able to help achieve our
clients’ goals in designing and develop-
ing urban frameworks that can restore
and sustain the environment.
Benchmarking + Data Collection
We are committed to helping our
clients achieve the highest building
performance goals on their projects.
We collect data on all of our projects,
aggregating it into a database that
allows us to understand the predicted
and actual performance of our de-
signs. We work with clients to ensure
our buildings perform as designed
through dynamic commissioning, post
occupancy evaluations, and project
benchmarking. We are trusted partners
in achieving performance goals – in
design, in occupancy, and beyond.
Sustainable Operations
At Perkins+Will, we practice what
we preach. We published our first
Sustainable Design Initiative Strategic
Plan in 2004 and have since pub-
lished updated plans every 3-4 years.
These Plans define corporate policy
for mandatory LEED AP accreditation,
designing LEED Certified buildings,
establishing in-house sustainable
operations policies, and creating edu-
cational content for both internal and
external use. Our Green Operations
Plan sets firmwide policy for corpo-
rate transportation, office energy and
water use, office consumables, indoor
air quality, and office construction
or renovations. As a company, we are
proud to be carbon neutral. We an-
nually audit and offset 100% of our
Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, as
well as our firmwide air travel, through
RECs purchased from Green-e certified
providers.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN /
