Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting April 16,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Aelion asked when this project was getting underway.1 and Public Works
Director Evans said the root pruning has already been done on the trees. We anticipate
starting this project shortly after school lets out to allow more time for,the parking garage
work that is going on out there so that we can help ease some of the on-street parking that is
going to need to be addressed. It is going to be a difficult project and it is going to take a lot
of traffic maintenance and a lot of public outreach being cognizant of what we are doing. We
have to put plates down to get people in and out of their entrances, and so with school being
out, it will help. Waiting a little longer allows some of the construction effort to finish up
which will help ease the project somewhat.
Commissioner Levin moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the
resolution. Resolution No. 2015-2400 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
10J. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Awarding
RFP No. 14-11-01 to and Approving an Agreement with Florida'Engineering and
Development, Corp.to Provide Professional Construction Services for the Construction
of the 174th Street Roadway Improvement Project, in an Amount Not to Exceed
$2,965,750.20, Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A"; Authorizing the Mayor to Execute Said
Agreement; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this
Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date.
Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Public Works Director Bill Evans reported that
this is actually the construction project.
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Aelion asked if the speed bumps would be replaced in the same locations?
Public Works Director Evans said yes, they will be removed for the improvements and then
replaced in the same location. City Manager Russo noted that the drainage work is west of
North Bay Road, and the rest of the project goes the course of the whole street.
Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the
resolution. Resolution No. 2015-2401 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
10K. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Florida. Approving
the Third Amendment to the Agreement with Keith & Schnars, P.A. for Professional
Services for the FPL Overhead to Underground Conversion Project,in an Amount Not
to Exceed 5403.320.00.
