The two-story facility is designed to comply with the port’s design criteria and meet the comfort needs of passengers, is fully handicapped accessible and conforms to the technical and operational requirements of mega cruise ships -- carrying over 5,000 passengers. Special attention is being given to passenger needs in an effort to enhance the overall cruise experience. For example, passengers approaching the terminal will be able to see cruise-related information on large LED display screens that are being incor-porated into the building facade. Passenger drop-off areas will have wide canopies to provide shelter from the sun and rain. The tall curtain wall in the lobby area will provide passengers
with views of cruise ships, as well as bring natural light into the space. These features will
help reduce the stress of passengers as they go through the high-tech screening process
prior to embarkation. To streamline the passenger ticketing process, self-ticketing kiosks in
addition to traditional ticketing booths as well as self assist embarkation and disembarkation
over accomodated, redundant paths of travel were provided and the terminal also features
VIP and wedding lounges.
